OCEANS: CLIMATE & ENERGY

The ocean plays a key role in climate dynamics, as a carbon sink, as a heat reservoir, as a source of energy and life. It had potential to contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Yet climate change has a major impact on the ocean and its ecosystems, on maritime activities and on coastal populations. Furthermore, pollution and pressures of anthropogenic origin are threatening its health …

… however, the ocean remains a source of hope as it can help limit the climate and biodiversity crises.

All these aspects will be addressed over the 4 days of this Summer School, with presentations by a wide range of stakeholders in the sector, and site visits.
